All the Things

I need more than my ten fingers to count all the new things that have happened to me this summer. A lot has happened, and I can't believe that it's all already over. I think Chicago is always beautiful, but it's especially so in the summer. Everyone comes spilling out of their homes to soak up all the beautiful weather while they can, filling up the streets, celebrating the silliest things (the nude bike race comes to mind...), and just generally being happy.

But fall is pretty awesome too. It's the season of boots, knitted garments, and all the cups of tea, all of which can be categorized under my love language.

Yesterday David stopped at Mariano's after work to buy me Peruvian lilies (some of my favorite flowers!), and he asked me out on a date. So tonight, we're going to Lula Cafe which will check off another restaurant on our list of Bib Gourmand restaurants to try. It's pretty rare that we have such a fancy meal out since we're all about home-cooked meals, but every routine has to be shook up every now and again :)

And now that I think about it, I don't think I ever wrote here that in June David asked me to marry him! We took a long weekend to Door County, WI, and while we were walking the Lake Michigan shoreline in Cave Point Park, David got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. I cried, and you didn't hear it from me, but David cried too. It was such a perfect moment. Truly the best start to the rest of our lives together :)

Oh, and I started grad school! Gosh, I've been negligent with news recently. I'm studying secondary education with a focus in math at DePaul University, and it's been so great so far. I love my professors (one is really more like a mentor), and despite the crazy workload, the past few weeks of classes have really reaffirmed for me that I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be right now.

    1. Celia, you're the dearest! I would love to meet up some time! I have Monday and Tuesday classes in the evening, so I usually have an hour or so between work and school where I'm twiddling my thumbs up in Lincoln Park. Let's make this happen!
