The name of this weekly post may be Tuesday Tea, but that name is not very apt today because there was no tea involved in the following activities.
The great thing about the summer is that it provides a great time to reconnect with old friends and see the high school buddies that you probably haven't seen since the summer before or maybe Christmas if you're lucky. And now that the semester is over, most everyone stops at home at least for a little while before moving on to their respective summer, or post-graduate, plans.
For me, I had the opportunity to meet up with my best high school friend, Patrick, and some of our other mutual friends to do an old high school tradition--trivia night at George's, a restaurant and bar in the Virginia Highlands. We laughed over a couple pints, recalled outrageous memories, and generally kicked some butt at trivia. Somehow I pulled random answers out of nowhere that managed to be correct, and the on-going joke of the night was that I was "kerry-ing" the team. How fitting. Overall, it was a great night, and it made me a little nostalgic for other high school memories. I'm lucky that time apart never ruined these particular friendships though. Graduations of any kind always bring up questions of whether or not you'll keep in touch with the people you say you will, but knowing that four years at different colleges didn't change things makes me that much more positive for the future. For now we'll just cherish the time we have together, which is a good approach to really any relationship.
